Description

Among the various adaptation options (tillage practices, changing crop protection and fertilisation), the CoP focuses on the introduction of new crop species (e.g. protein crops) and varieties to increase crop security. We want to raise awareness of these climate-smart solutions among advisors and provide them with effective advisory tools to encourage farmers to develop a more diverse cropping structure that is more resilient to climate challenges.

Objectives

1. Integration of new crop varieties/species of protein crops into crop rotation;
2. Presentation of good practices;
3. Focus on forage crops as a possible way to diversify;
4. Consider forage production needs when planning crop rotation, intercropping;
5. Mindset change, awareness raising among advisors and farmers, presentation of good practices;
6. Inclusion of climate change advisory topic in the list of optional topics/subject areas for registered advisors, introduction and launch of climate change basic and further training for advisors
