Description

A multidisciplinary team with diverse professional backgrounds ready to learn about precision livestock farming (PLF) and its role in establishing climate-smart farming practices. We will combine our technical knowledge to support each other and strengthen our advisory skills. Our main goal is to expand our knowledge in order to provide better guidance and recommendations on PLF to farmers and encourage to implement these systems. This kind of system allow better herd management, improving farm sustainability, increasing the productive lifespan of animals and a reducing the environmental impact associated with the excess numbers of animals on farms

Objectives

Our main objective is to encourage farmers to adopt PLF systems. To achieve this, we will focus on the following objectives:

  1. Create a repository of PLF systems and identify which of them can be considered climate-smart solutions.
  2. Collect information about the benefits of PLF implementation in order to encourage farmers to adopt these systems.
  3. Conduct a survey to better understand farmers’ needs and improve our advisory skills.
  4. Share the knowledge and experience gained with young farmers.
  5. Improve our advisory soft skills
