Description

The ES_8_AgriDigital – Smart Greenhouse Digitalization: Data-Driven Climate Management for Low- and Medium-Technology Solar Greenhouses aims to support farmers and advisors in the transition towards more data-based agronomic decision-making in the Almería greenhouse sector. The CoP will focus on raising awareness of the value of digital tools, sensors, climate indicators such as VPD, and the interconnection of farm data to improve greenhouse climate management and crop performance.

Through real testimonies, success stories, training activities and practical examples from commercial farms, the CoP seeks to overcome farmers’ hesitancy towards digitalization and show the practical benefits and rewards of adopting digital tools. Its overall ambition is to build capacity among farmers and advisors, promote continuous learning, and contribute to a more competitive, climate-smart and technologically advanced greenhouse horticulture sector.

Objectives

The CoP Smart Greenhouse Digitalization: Data-Driven Climate Management for Low- and Medium-Technology Solar Greenhouses aims to strengthen the capacity of farmers and advisors to adopt digital tools and use farm data for climate-smart agronomic decision-making in greenhouse horticulture.

The specific objectives of the CoP are to:

Raise awareness among farmers and advisors of the importance of data-driven decision-making in greenhouse crop management.

Promote the use and interpretation of key greenhouse climate indicators, such as VPD, to improve crop performance and climate management.

Support farmers and advisors in understanding the practical benefits and rewards of digital tools, sensors and data platforms.

Provide real farm data, testimonies and success stories to help overcome reluctance towards digitalization.

Encourage the interconnection and practical use of data collected from commercial farms with different levels of digitalization.

Promote continuous training for farmers, advisors and cooperative technicians on sensors, climate control and digital decision-support tools.

Support the technological upgrading of low- and medium-technology solar greenhouses through accessible and practical digital solutions.

Inform farmers and advisors about available funding opportunities, including operational funds, to support farm digitalization.

Build a community of farmers and advisors to share experiences, lessons learned and successful examples of digitalization in greenhouse horticulture.

Through these objectives, the CoP seeks to contribute to a more competitive, climate-smart and data-driven greenhouse sector, improving climate management, extending the production window and supporting better agronomic decisions based on real data.
