Description

Heat stress and changes in animal nutrition lead to certain consequences that manifest themselves, for example, as a longer feeding period, higher production costs and lower productivity of meat, milk and egg production. In areas with extensive livestock farming, changes in the distribution of precipitation and the length of the growing season lead to unstable pastures and difficulties in planning feeding. Warmer conditions and changes in humidity can also allow the spread of new animal diseases that further reduce feeding capacities and productivity. All of the above can cause increased costs for feed producers and livestock farmers themselves.

Objectives

  1. Analyze climate risks for animal feed production
  2. Find opportunities for plant production to adapt to climate change (forage crops)
  3. Determine the necessary feeding strategies, including the nutritional efficiency of animal feed, as climate stress directly affects ration quality and metabolic indicators (urea, somatic cells, milk yield)
  4. Acquire knowledge and management skills and economic and market aspects under the influence of climate change, as well as possibilities for reducing methane emissions through the feeding of domestic animals
  5. Develop materials to further increase the knowledge of advisors and farmers on animal feed production under the influence of climate change.
