Description

This Community of Practice focuses on raising awareness among farmers about agrophotovoltaics and their contribution to climate change mitigation. The activities will explore the challenges related to agrivoltaic systems and photovoltaic greenhouses through the dissemination of key information required for proper system design in accordance with the crop management practices. Communication will also be supported by expert advisors, with the aim of increasing awareness of the critical issues, risks and opportunities of agrivoltaics for sustainable agri-food and energy production.

Objectives

1. Creation of a network of experts and stakeholders working on agrivoltaics in Italy, designed to support exchange and communication among relevant actors.

2. Building confidence among advisors and farmers by organizing site visits to agrivoltaic installations, combined with emissions-reduction assessments and follow-up discussions.

3. Providing tailored, scientifically robust guidance on the sustainable planning of agrivoltaic systems in order to minimize environmental and visual impacts, through the dissemination of outreach materials and the use of appropriate communication channels.
