Thematic Areas

Crops Management

Description

This COP explores sustainable, alternative, and complementary strategies to reduce chemical control in orchards.

Specifically, we focus on:

  • Biological Control: Leveraging beneficial antagonist insects.
  • Advanced Monitoring: Deploying innovative traps and spore traps.
  • Decision Support Systems (DSS): Using data-driven tools for smarter farming.
  • Natural Products: Applying botanicals, microorganisms, and biostimulants.
  • Genetic Resistance: Analyzing crop varieties resistant to major diseases.

Objectives

The present COP aims to explore alternative or complementary defense strategies to chemical control in orchards. Specifically, approaches such as biological control (the use of beneficial antagonist insects), advanced monitoring systems using traps and spore traps, the use of decision support systems (DSS), the application of natural products (botanicals, microorganisms, and biostimulants), and an in-depth analysis of varieties with genetic resistance to the main diseases will be investigated.
