The overall objective of the CoP is to enhance the skills, knowledge, and competences of agricultural advisers in developing and applying strategies to address the inevitable spread of invasive and quarantine pests driven by climate change and global warming. These strategies include monitoring, prevention, and control measures within the framework of IPM and biological control practices already implemented in EU countries and feasible for application in Serbia.
The CoP aims to improve the preparedness of the national monitoring system, agricultural advisers, and farmers for the potential introduction of quarantine pests, as well as to strengthen the capacity for efficient response to the spread of invasive pests. Through knowledge exchange, practical demonstrations, and the sharing of good practices, the CoP seeks to support more resilient, sustainable, and climate-smart agricultural production systems.
CoP members will improve their knowledge of EU monitoring systems, control strategies, and biological control measures applicable to invasive and quarantine pests.
Relevant and feasible practices suitable for Serbian agricultural conditions will be identified and promoted among advisors, farmers and policymakers.
Key risk factors and inappropriate agricultural practices contributing to the spread of invasive pests will be identified, documented, and addressed through advisory recommendations.
Improved advisory methods and educational materials will increase farmers’ awareness and adoption of practices for preventing and controlling invasive and quarantine pests.
