This Czech Community of Practice focuses on strengthening agricultural advisory capacities by integrating productive and non-productive vegetation features that enhance soil health and landscape resilience. By building on recent scientific advances, we support the implementation of new features and practices into the over-consolidated agricultural landscape to reduce erosion and improve ecosystem functioning.
In the Central European context, our CoP brings together advisors, farmers, and researchers to exchange experiences and test practical tools, such as “soil fitness” monitoring methods developed in collaboration with Mendel University. A key priority is developing advisors’ soft skills and convincing capabilities to effectively communicate the benefits of these practices to both farmers and public administrators.
a) Capacity Enhancement: Organize a CSA workshop focused on soft skills and convincing capabilities, inviting advisors from neighboring countries (Slovakia, Austria, Hungary) to foster cross-CoP collaboration.
b) Tool Testing (Mandatory Milestone): Identify and test at least 3 soil health (soil fitness) assessment methods in both field and laboratory conditions at Mendel University.
c) Advisory Tool Development: Design a navigation tool (road map) to help advisors correctly direct farmers based on their specific needs and towards appropriate tools for achieving set goals.
d) Resource Creation: Develop methodological materials for advisors and a set of 3–5 fact sheets for landowners and officials, focusing on the true value of healthy soil and diverse landscapes.
e) Policy & Barrier Analysis: Conduct a barrier analysis by mapping the interlinkages between information sources, legislative norms, and CS solutions in the Czech Republic.
f) Practice Abstract (Mandatory Milestone): Draft a Practice Abstract summarizing the key findings of the CoP into a concise professional text for the European database.
