Description

Member of the COP are Consultants from the Chamber for Agriculture Lower Austria and Styria who work in the field of Grassland Management and Forage production.

Permanent Grassland in Lower Austria and Styria is highly affected by climate change, mainly due to heat and drought, but also the spreading of specific weeds.

Farmes who face these challenges, develop questions and requirements which are new for consults. Goal of the COP is, to define which additional information is needed and build the capacity needed. This information should be distributed among consultants in both institutions.

Important technical basis are the studies and publications of ARAC Raumberg-Gumpenstein (Agricultural Research and Education Centre Raumberg-Gumpenstein)

Objectives

improving knowledge of Grassland plants (grasses, legumes, herbs, weeds) and vegetation ecology

gain knowledge about restoring Grassland damaged by drought and heat

gain knowledge about the use of legumes in forage production (permanent grassland and field fodder)
