Description

This Community of Practice, based in Teagasc Tinahely, Co. Wicklow, Ireland, aims to improve communication and coordination between enterprise, climate and water quality advisory, helping to ensure farmers receive consistent advice and support in implementing agreed actions.

Through practical farm case studies, peer learning and the use of tools such as AgNav, members will develop their ability to assess farm emissions, interpret climate-related data and communicate recommendations effectively. The group will explore how climate information can be made more visual, practical and meaningful for farmers while supporting a whole-farm approach to advisory services.

Objectives

  1. To develop practical ways of visualising greenhouse gas emissions and climate data so that they are more meaningful to farmers
  2. To develop advisors’ skills in using climate decision-support tools, such as AgNav, to assess farm emissions, identify opportunities for improvement and support climate smart decision making
  3. To explore ways to improve climate communication and coordination between enterprise, climate and water quality advisory services to support the implementation of farm actions
  4. To identify effective approaches, messages and incentives that encourage farmer engagement with climate smart practices.
