Healthy Waters, Resilient Farms is a dynamic Community of Practice bringing together agricultural advisors working across Ireland’s diverse farming landscapes, from upland and marginal areas to the country’s most productive agricultural land, to address one of the sector’s most pressing challenges: protecting and improving water quality.
Through expert insights, peer learning, real farm experiences and collaborative problem-solving, participants will explore practical, evidence-based solutions that support productive, profitable and climate-smart farming.
Together, advisors will build the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to help farmers respond to evolving policy, adopt effective water protection measures, and deliver lasting improvements for Ireland’s water environment.
• Strengthen advisors’ knowledge and confidence in addressing water quality challenges on Irish farms.
• Provide timely updates on the evolving policy landscape, including the Nitrates Action Programme and the future of Ireland’s nitrates derogation.
• Share practical, evidence-based approaches that improve water quality while supporting farm productivity and climate resilience.
• Facilitate peer-to-peer learning through real farm case studies, expert input and collaborative problem-solving.
• Support advisors in identifying and promoting opportunities for farmers to access significant funding through schemes such as the Water EIP and other water quality initiatives.
