This CoP focuses on improving climate-smart advisory services in arable farming by addressing key questions related to measuring climate change impacts, identifying effective adaptation levers, engaging farmers in practice changes, and maintaining farm economic performance. To achieve this, the group has set clear objectives: developing crop-cycle timelines with climate risks, analyzing adaptation strategies and their multi-dimensional impacts, and identifying effective communication approaches. These objectives are supported by a structured plan combining training sessions, field visits, expert inputs, and debriefs, ensuring continuous learning, practical testing, and collective progress toward more resilient and sustainable farming systems.
Develop a timeline of the crop cycle for each crop (soft wheat, spring barley, and winter barley), including all associated stresses and climatic hazards, as well as their impacts on yield and quality, by February 2027.
List climate change adaptation levers and their long-term impacts on crops—economic (yield, quality, cost), social (workload), and environmental (GHG reduction, carbon sequestration)—by September 2027.
Identify and characterize different communication and awareness channels that can be used to encourage farmers to change their practices, by February 2028.
