We plan to achieve this goal through the exchange of experiences and by exploring how different organic farms operate. This will enable the advisors participating in the CoP to gain practical competencies necessary to assess whether a given farm has the potential to transition to an organic farming system, what changes it should introduce to meet organic farming requirements, and how to carry out this process while maintaining profitability and financial stability.
An important part of our work will also be identifying climate‑friendly practices that are effective and feasible to implement in organic farms, as well as determining which actions should not be recommended due to their limited effectiveness or incompatibility with the specific nature of organic production.
The overarching intention of the group is to understand the potential and challenges of organic farms in the Warmia and Mazury region so that the advisors forming the CoP possess the knowledge and confidence needed to provide professional guidance. The outcome of our work will be strengthened advisor competencies in supporting farmers in making decisions about transitioning to organic farming and in recommending solutions that both improve farm performance and contribute to climate protection.
During the CoP meetings, we will visit various organic farms in our area. Based on these visits and conversations with the farmers, we will try to answer questions about the future of organic farming and its development prospects in our region. Each meeting will combine a field component with a session focused on practicing climate‑smart advisory methods and tools.
