Description

This Community of Practice focuses on exploring realistic transition pathways from intensive dairy production towards more extensive grazing-based livestock systems. The CoP will analyse how livestock production can better utilise permanent grasslands, stabilise agricultural landscapes and reduce production risks under changing climate and policy conditions. Through iterative learning, expert inputs and field visits, the group will develop feasible transformation scenarios and identify pilot opportunities for implementation.

Objectives

To create a multi-actor learning environment for exploring livestock system transformation.
To analyse territorial, ecological and economic limits affecting grazing-based livestock systems
To develop realistic transition scenarios for different landscape contexts
To facilitate peer-to-peer learning through study visits and farmer exchanges
To identify feasible pilot initiatives and innovation projects supporting livestock system transformation
To contribute to knowledge exchange on climate-resilient livestock farming systems
